Single-family house

A housing project in the center of A Coruña

This project consists of the intervention in a private house located in the center of A Coruña, where the main objective was to create a serene, elegant and deeply connected space with natural materials.

It is a project developed in collaboration with the architect Carlos Quintáns, in which design, architecture and custom furniture work together to build a coherent, careful and timeless home.

From The House by Grupo Malasa we participated in the project through the design and manufacture of all the furniture and custom carpentry, integrating customized solutions that are an essential part of the final result.

Location: A Coruña, Spain
Year: 2019
Project: Custom furniture and carpentry

Natural materials and customized solutions.

One of the main axes of the project is the use of walnut wood, both in vertical cladding and in singular pieces of furniture. The kitchen table made of solid walnut wood, designed and made to measure in our facilities, stands out especially.

This type of solution allows the furniture not to be an added element, but a structural part of the space itself.

A transformation thought out in detail.

The intervention included the complete renovation of the flooring, the creation of built-in closets with interior lighting, as well as the development of all the interior and exterior carpentry, carefully integrated with the rest of the house.

Among the finishes, the vertical cladding of fireproof grooved MDF with a white lacquered finish stands out, providing rhythm, texture and visual continuity to the spaces.

Furniture designed for this space and no one else.

All the furniture was custom designed and manufactured, which made it possible to adapt each piece to the architecture of the house and the way of living of its inhabitants. This level of customization is what makes it possible for a project to completely change its final result.

Details that make a difference.

As a special detail, all the interior doors of the house were designed without doorknobs, incorporating a controlled opening and closing system such as active stop or telecos. This eliminates the need for floor stops and reinforces the visual cleanliness and continuity of the spaces.
